M40 General has 4 CPU, M40 SSD NVME only 2 CPUs.

This is looks to be expected and is not specific to M40’s from what I can see in the configuration screen for my test cluster.
It’s recommended choosing the configuration best suited to your workload / use case but the Customize cluster storage documentation may be of use to you with specific regards to the storage options available.
