Unable to start configserver replica set

i tried running mongod -f csrs_1.conf, but seeing the following error:

vagrant@m103:~$ mongod --config csrs_1.conf
about to fork child process, waiting until server is ready for connections.
forked process: 18684
ERROR: child process failed, exited with error number 100
To see additional information in this output, start without the “–fork” option.

the csrs_1.conf file has the following settings:
vagrant@m103:~$ more csrs_1.conf
sharding:
clusterRole: configsvr
replication:
replSetName: m103-csrs
security:
authorization: enabled
keyFile: /var/mongodb/pki/m103-keyfile
net:
bindIp: localhost,192.168.103.100
port: 26001
systemLog:
destination: file
path: /var/mongodb/db/csrs1.log
logAppend: true
processManagement:
fork: true
storage:
dbPath: /var/mongodb/db/csrs1

any suggestions on how to solve this?

Hi @Kanchana_99113,

As mentioned in the error message, please try to run the process without --fork option as that will enable the process to run in foreground and the exact error will be displayed on the screen.

You may also look at the contents of the log file for the issue.
cat /var/mongodb/db/csrs1.log

Some more things to check can be:

  1. The directory mentioned in dbpath exists and has the required permissions
  2. Check if localhost is correctly binded to IP address 127.0.0.1
