To provide more information:
Version 1.14.5 works fine on Fedora 29, but all versions after that (starting with 1.15.0) crash when I launch them.
It is mentioned in the JIRA ticket. Try this and let me know.

Hello Kanika,
I couldnt find where to download that version of compass, but I did manage to get a Virtual Centos7 server which is working very well for me, so this is no longer an issue
