I would recommend you to go through the Lecture: Exploring Datasets in Compass again. In this video, the instructor has talked about how to explore your data in compass.

In the Lab 1.2: Determine the Value Type, Part 1, you are expected to do some exploratory analysis on your own using the techniques shown in the above video lecture.
