Read Preference: Nearest

is the latency parameter fixed based upon the nodes in the replica set at a defined starting point in time - whether or not all nodes are alive… node A, when working, is nearest - but if down just wait …

or does it auto recalibrate…so that if nodes in the replica set go down the lowest latency node gets dynamically assigned as ‘nearest’…node A, when working, is nearest - but if down then node B becomes nearest

I suppose the latter but I didn’t catch an example of this kind…

ah just found another q/a on the exact topic… is the latter.
