Mongod -f node1.conf - Error reading config file: No such file or directory

When I run mongod -f node1.conf I get the error

Error reading config file: No such file or directory

Any words of wisdom !?

Could you try a relative path? mongod -f ./node1.conf

… and if your config file is located in the shared folder, then it should be:
mongod -f /shared/node1.conf

If I understand correctly I tried this and it failed

Im really confused by the whole concept of DIR Im creating but cannot see on the host machine …

but anyways that worked so thank you !

Basically, the shared folder on your host machine is synced to the /shared dir on the VM. So any files you place there is accessible in the VM. It’s the vagrantfile (when run) that sets this up.
