Issue with creating .bash_profile

Can anyone please help on creating the .bash_profile, I followed the steps correctly, but MAC is not allowing to save the .bash_profile, because . is hidden and use “.bash_profile”, I have created the file like this, but can’t see any path, its completely blank

Are you not able to save the file or just can’t see it after its created? If the latter use “ls -la” show hidden files in long format. Also make sure you’re in your home directory when you do create it.

I apologize, but I’m having a very hard time understanding what you are describing, both in what you’ve done and in what is going wrong.

Luckily, we can do a quick and easy work-around, whatever your problems are

  1. Open the “Terminal” app on your Mac.

  2. Run the following commands:

    touch ~/.bash_profile
    open ~/.bash_profile

The first command makes sure that the file “.bash_profile” exists in your homedir (which the ~/ is an alias for that always works!). The second command opens the file in TextEditor, for easy editing

You can now make all the changes you want in the graphical editor.
